Short Term Memory Loss

Short term memory loss plagues us all when we don’t take the necessary precautions to prevent it.

When you start to fail simple memorization tasks as simple as remembering a phone number dialed just several minutes ago, it is time to ameliorate the noesis and the cognitive processes of recalling and retaining information.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to not fall prey to a sedentary lifestyle. Remain as active in both cognition and physique to ensure thorough blood circulation to the brain.

Lack of intellectual stimulation will cause your mental faculties to atrophy.

Decline in short term memory can also be attributed to unstable blood sugar levels caused by irregular eating habits. Don’t starve yourself!

Hormonal imbalance is just as well a causative agent of short term memory deterioration. During menopause, for example, symptoms of memory loss are often experienced.

Excessive alcohol intake and irresponsible abuse of recreational drugs can cause severe impairment of short term memory. Medications for depression and viral infections also cause short term memory loss by disrupting important brain chemicals.

Be sure that you are getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids and other vitamins essential to healthy memory and brain function.

Repetition and Rote Memory

Memorizing information by repetition and rote learning instills information differently into your hippocampus, which improves short term memory on a superficial level — but does nothing to imprint the information through to your cortex, or long term memory.

When an organ or muscle of the human body is not used, it tends to inevitably deteriorate and atrophy. It becomes sickly and weak and starts to lose its function. So to reverse the damaging effects of learning by rote memory, and the effects of short term memory loss causing absent-mindedness — memory exercises are key.

Memory exercises address the underlying causes of poor short term memory. They improve memory naturally and unlike other alternatives and will not break the bank. First invented by Giordano Bruno in 1568 and used all around the world today, thousands of people have used memory exercises in place of repetition and rote learning and to effectively improve their short term memory.

Yet many people are skeptical. That’s because the authority we trust for our memory — our schools and professors — are not formally trained in memory exercises so they give them no credibility. Their goal is to prescribe a strict authoritarian regimen of rote learning by repetition which will only make your memory worse over time. Helpful, huh?

  • The Wrong Exercises — poorly researched memory training courses with no scientific evaluation that offer theoretically outdated memory exercises inapplicable to real life situations.
  • Lack of Commitment — you must perform memory exercises consistently for several weeks. But some people give up after a few days of being faced with the sheer amount of content in the course and therefore complain that it is too much work.

To put it in a nutshell, if you follow a reputable training program and stick to a short daily routine, you will have an excellent chance of success to improve your memory with memory improvement exercises.

I did — and was amazed to see my memory improve after just three days of appying what I’ve learned to my studies. This first-hand experience proved to me that memory exercises really do work.
